Holiday is fun no doubt but one thing to be careful about is skin care. These past years we have seen temperatures easily reaching +40 degrees celsius in places like Spain or Greece. That can be a lot of fun especially when you are planning to hit the beach. However spending all day in the sun means you need to be extra careful about skin care during your holiday trip.

To answer the questions above, there are two factors to consider: first you need to ask yourself what are your end-goals? Are you trying to lose weight? Are you looking to be more healthy? Are you trying to build muscle? Or are you just getting ready for the summer?
Another factor to consider is who you are, i.e. your personality, culture and lifestyle. Some diets include specific meals that might not suit everybody’s lifestyle, personality and culture.

These days there are so many different diets that we will not be able to list them all but those above are some of the more common ones. When it comes to the diets some are easy to follow while others are more challenging. You can choose whichever diet suits you however remember the most important element to take into consideration is that your diet suits you, it includes a variety of healthy foods, it should make you feel good and healthy and of course make you happy!
Being a parent can take a lot of your time and energy. One of the first issues you face as a parent is not having appropriate food because of parenting all day long. But probably the biggest challenge for new-moms besides getting enough sleep is how to eat healthy food when taking care of a newborn. How to eat healthy as a parent? For me this was really important because I want to be a fit mom role model for my daughter from the beginning. I will share in this blog some tips for overcoming those challenges you face based on my own experience on my journey of becoming a fit mother.
Online grocery shopping: Convenience is a must after a delivery! Shopping through an online grocery store saves a lot of time especially when you are taking care of a newborn. You have very little time for yourself and online ordering with a home delivery option makes your life much more easier. You combine this with the next tip. Several grocery stores include recipes that you can search for healthy food recipes to lose weight, choose ones you like and add the items directly to the shopping cart (in Finland both K and S markets have this). Very handy for us busy moms.
Preparing food for the week: We all know that planning your meals ahead of time saves money and time but it will also help for eating healthy with a newborn. Simple things such as planning to grocery shopping and deciding what recipes you would like to cook for several meals can be a lifesaver especially 3 weeks after the delivery. You can also prepare a big batch of food that can be partly frozen in portions that you can just easily defrost and re-heat when it’s time to eat.
Having vitamins and supplements: Taking supplements will make sure you have enough nutrients on top of improving your health in general. Usually when you are taking care of a newborn, eating a certain amount of each food group can be challenging. Taking supplements will help you eat healthy. Personally I was taking multivitamins, calsium and omegas already during pregnancy and just kept going. I also added some collagen tablets to help combat the hair loss.
Family members: Ask for help! It is not always easy to ask for help. Family members can help during that challenging time and you can be surprised how much support they can help you with. For us this was a big one and we got a lot of help without asking. My own mother came over a brought food for us almost every day during the first couple of weeks which helped me eating healthy as a mom.
Healthy snacks: It is important to have always some healthy snacks at hand such as protein-bars or mixed-nuts or even a smoothie. Those healthy snacks will keep you going throughout the day even if you don’t have a lot of time. Protein smoothies were a life-saver for me during the first month of two. You can prepare one really quickly by just mixing in blender frozen berries, vanilla protein powder and almond milk (or any kind of milk you like). Easy and quick way of eating healthy with a kid!
Think ahead: Being organized and prepared is one of the main things that helped me to undertake the post-pregnancy. When the baby arrives, you will have a lot of other things to focus on, besides how to be fit with a newborn, so you should plan and get prepared before that. Whatever you choose as your method, make a plan together with your partner on how to be healthy and fit parents. Of course life does not always go according to plan so be kind to yourself - you did just create a person :)
